| Cage Birds Yes, I am not only owned by my Poultry, I also share my home with a small assortment of birdies as well. Click on the pictures to enlarge. Some of these birds are: Blue Masked Lovebirds - Sable and Sakuya Sable and Sakuya are a 4 yr old breeding pair of Blue Masked Lovies. Neither are tame but will tolerate you near them as long as you keep your hands off! If I have to hold them for one thing or another they will take it without tantrums(or bites). They are both very calm birds, not too vocal either. Always busy with their own little things though, very fascinating to watch. Whitefaced Lovebird - Pitch Pitch is a Slate Whitefaced Lovebird, s/he is still a young one, under a year old and beyond adorable! Intended as a Playmate for one of my peachfaced but I rehomed the peachfaced and Pitch found himself as baby sitter for young ones and for my new young masked lovebird. New Additions! I would like to Introduce my 3 newest addition to my Lovebirds. Ryu and Inari, a proven breeding pair of Masked Lovebirds, Ryu the male is the green(wild type) and Inari the hen is the blue. and Toki, a violet Masked split to Silver I received from a breeder in Chilliwack, BC. Thank you Marci for this wonderful little bird. Cockatiels - Rico and Chichi My 2 Pied Grey Cockatiels, both were hatched last spring, so much of their behaviour is still babyish. Chichi is a very reserved and calm bird, unlike Rico who is completely full of himself and doesn't respect anything or anyone. He is quite funny though, he absolutely hates hands and even if you just move to a different position he will charge the hand and give it a good nip..... its funny to watch how easily he gets annoyed, whether it be your hair getting in his face when he sits on my shoulder, you moving your head or movement of any kind anywhere near him, he is there to complain about it. He makes very cute angry squeals too. One can only love a bird with such a "in your face" character! Bourkes Parakeets Budgie like parakeets, but not as aggressive and curious as a budgie. They are also very quiet and do not chatter like budgies, you may hear some mouse like chirps at dawn or dusk though. They try to avoid climbing at all costs, if they want to go somewhere they fly. That got my one Bourkes in trouble when she molted and could not fly and refused to climb, after a day or so on the ground the quail had enough of her being there. She stays in a holding cage until her flight feathers grow back. I would like to breed them this or next year, at them moment I only have 2 hens, so no breeding until I get mates for them. Finches Birdie crew also consist of a couple Finches, a trio of Black-winged orange Weavers, a male European Goldfinch, a pair of Zebra finches and a trio of Pintailed- Whydahs. |
