Waterfowl Muscovy Ducks Scovies are a large duck that comes from South America, they are one of the few types of ducks not related to Mallards. Scovies are very good fliers, although drakes over the age of 1 year rather walk then fly. These ducks also like to roost on fences and in trees when given the chance. They are very friendly and a lot calmer then Mallard derrived duck breeds. They also make wonderful broodies and moms. They are the silkie chickens of the duck world! I currently breed the colours Black, Chocolate, Barred and Pied Snow Geese A type of wild goose, with males weighing in at about 2.5-3 kgs and hens being between 1.8 and 2.3 kgs. The normal Snows are a pure white bird with black primary flights, and reddish orange beak with grinpatch and reddish orange feet. There also is another colour of Snow geese, this one being a bit harder to find and usually more expensive. That colour is called Blue Phase. The bird has a white head but the rest of the body is a combination of blue, black and white markings. The blue phase are my favorite type of colour in the snows. I currently have a pair of Normal white snows and one Blue Phase female. *New* I am happy to announce that I have added a young white gander to my snow flock and I hope in time he will pair up with my blue. These Geese require a Migratory Bird Permit!!! |
